STILLERS

This was a real discovery – a world first!  Stillers produce 100% copper pot alcohol free botanical drinks at its Monmouthshire distillery – the world’s first alcohol free distillery. Stillers deliver in their aim of producing strong, bold and complex flavours with every serve of their drinks by using carefully selected, organically grown herbs and spices steeped in Welsh spring water. We tried their Silk Roots and Tonic – a warm aromatic herbal blend of clove and cardamon with a hint of citrus and cinnamon notes – delicious.

HINTON’S OF BEWDLEY LTD

We met Nick Hinton who introduced us to Hinton’s Worcestershire Pear Gin, an award winner at the show.  We confirm Hinton’s truly deserved this win – a fabulous gin which uses ingredients sourced and picked from the Worcestershire countryside – full strength and including the natural sweetness and fruity flavours from pears, apples and oranges plus 11 botanicals including ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg.

We would also congratulate the team on their first place (whole show) people’s choice award for their Wyre Forest Gin. Well done!

WILDJAC DISTILLERY

Wildjac is a young independent distillery backed by 150 years of experience – they create premium botanical spirits with natural/ethically sourced ingredients foraged from the Wyre Forest and its surrounding land.  They have a very interesting range – Natural Dry Gin, Fresh Citrus Vodka, Honey Spiced Rum , Damson and Raspberry Gin plus a Natural Botanical Spirit plus they offer a Craft Gin School! We tried the Honey Spiced Rum and it lives up to its claims – a smooth, honey spice aroma leads to a ginger, orange and vanilla finish underpinned by coriander, nutmeg and a hint of oak.  Super blending of ingredients.

THE LUDLOW PICKLE COMPANY

The winning Ludlow Pickle Company certainly have something to shout about!  Chefs Jean and Paul have created a selection of products to enhance everyday dishes – from hand harvested salts off the coast of Loire Atlantique to a selection of tasty pickles and dressings.  Clearly passionate about pickles, Paul introduced us to their Courgette Pickle, Balsamic Pickled Onions and the Pickled Tapas Mix – stunning!  These selections can be combined in their reasonably priced gift boxes – £13.50 to £15.00.

TIPSY FRUIT GINS LTD

Producing traditional English fruit liqueurs, Tipsy Fruit Gins have 5 flavours of gin plus a chocrumba – a rum based liqueur.  Using a recipe based on one found in a relative’s household cookery book dated 1848, they use only whole fruit with no concentrates, taking 3 to 18 months for the full flavour of the fruit to be absorbed into the gin.  This care and dedication was amply demonstrated by the Sloe and Raspberry Fruit Gins we tried – really flavoursome and authentic.
